Romans 8:18-25 - For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

In this passage from Romans, Paul speaks of the future glory that awaits believers and all of creation. He begins by saying that the present sufferings are not worth comparing to the coming glory. Even though believers suffer now, it is nothing compared to the exceeding and eternal weight of glory to come. All of creation is longing and waiting eagerly for the revelation of the children of God. Creation was subjected to futility because of human sin, but it too will be liberated and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. Not only creation, but believers also groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption of our bodies that comes at the resurrection. Though we have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we still eagerly await the full adoption and redemption of our bodies.

This passage is such an encouragement for the trials and difficulties of this life. No matter what we face, Paul reminds us it is temporary and light compared to eternity. As we walk with Christ, we can have hope knowing glory awaits. This life is not the end, and the best is yet to come for those who put their trust in Jesus! Until then, we wait patiently, setting our eyes on what is unseen and eternal. The Holy Spirit gives us strength to endure and hope for the day we will receive our incorruptible bodies. What a glorious future is in store for those who are in Christ! May this passage increase our joy and peace as we await His return.

Lord Jesus, we thank You for the hope and encouragement this passage provides. When we face grief, pain, and suffering, remind us these are light and momentary compared to the glory to come. Give us strength, joy, and endurance from Your Spirit as we await Your return. Come quickly, Lord Jesus! We eagerly wait to see You face to face and receive our eternal inheritance. Amen.
