Romans 5:6-11 - For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

This passage from Romans 5:6-11 describes God's incredible love for us shown through Jesus Christ dying for us while we were still sinners. Even though we were weak and ungodly, at just the right time, Christ died for us. His death reconciled us to God and justifies us, so that we will be saved from God's wrath. God demonstrates his love in that while we were still sinners and enemies of God, Christ died for us. Because of this, we now have peace with God and confidence that we will be saved through Jesus' life. We can rejoice in our salvation and reconciliation with God that has come through Jesus alone.

This passage is a sobering reminder of both our own sinfulness and God's amazing grace. Left to ourselves, we are weak, ungodly, and enemies of God. We have no righteousness or strength to save ourselves. But while we were in this hopeless state, Christ died for us. His death was not just for good people or the righteous - it was for sinners like you and me. God's love is so great that he sent Jesus to die for us at the perfect time, so that through faith in him we might be justified, reconciled to God, and saved from his wrath. Because of Jesus' sacrifice, we can now have peace with God and rejoice in the salvation he has won for us. This salvation is not something we have earned or deserve - it is a free gift of God's grace. My prayer is that we would never forget both our own unworthiness and God's immeasurable love shown to us on the cross.

Father, thank you for your incredible love shown to us through Jesus Christ. Thank you for dying for us while we were still sinners, enemies, and ungodly. I pray that I would never forget both my own sinfulness and unworthiness, as well as your amazing grace that saved me through faith in Jesus. Help me to rejoice always in the salvation you have so freely given. May I live each day seeking to honor you with my life and share your saving love with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.
