Faith

Reading

Romans 10:9-10 - because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Summary

In Romans 10:9-10, Paul discusses the importance of faith and what it means to be saved. He explains that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. Paul emphasizes that true faith involves both believing in our hearts and confessing with our mouths. It is not enough to simply believe internally - we must openly acknowledge our faith in Jesus as well. Our salvation comes through placing our faith and trust in Jesus and all that He has done for us through His death and resurrection.

Reflection

These verses highlight how central faith is to our salvation. So many of us go through life trying to earn our way into God's good graces through our own works and efforts. But the Bible makes clear that salvation is a free gift that comes through faith alone. We cannot save ourselves no matter how hard we try. We must surrender fully to God's grace and mercy by putting our trust in Jesus. This requires believing not just with our minds, but with our whole hearts. It means relying completely on Jesus, rather than on our own strength or righteousness. While having faith can feel vulnerable, we find security and peace knowing that God accepts us through Christ. I pray that we all seek to deepen our own faith by drawing nearer to Jesus each day through prayer, Bible study, and obedience. May our lives reflect the faith we profess with our lips.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for the gift of salvation that is freely offered to all through faith in your Son, Jesus Christ. I pray that you would strengthen the faith of all believers. Help us to truly believe in our hearts that you raised Jesus from the dead. Give us courage to openly confess our faith in Jesus as Lord over all aspects of our lives. May our faith be lived out each day through obedience to your Word. In Jesus' name, Amen.
