Exodus 14:1-4 - Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Tell the people of Israel to turn back and encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, in front of Baal-zephon; you shall encamp facing it, by the sea. For Pharaoh will say of the people of Israel, 'They are wandering in the land; the wilderness has shut them in.' And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD.' And they did so.

In Exodus 14:1-4, the Lord instructs Moses to lead the Israelites to encamp in front of Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. The purpose of this is to set the stage for a miraculous display of God's power and glory. Pharaoh, upon seeing the Israelites seemingly trapped in the wilderness, will harden his heart and pursue them. But God has a plan to gain glory over Pharaoh and his army, so that the Egyptians will know that He is the Lord. The Israelites obeyed and followed Moses' instructions.

This passage reminds us that God is in control, even in the midst of difficult situations. The Israelites may have felt trapped and afraid, but God had a plan to deliver them and display His power. Sometimes, we may find ourselves in challenging circumstances where we feel hemmed in and unsure of what to do. In those moments, it's important to remember that God is with us, and He has a plan for our deliverance. Just as He parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, He can make a way for us. We can trust in His faithfulness and seek His guidance.

Dear God, thank You for reminding us that You are in control of every situation. Help us to trust in Your plan, even when we feel trapped or uncertain. Give us the faith to believe that You will make a way where there seems to be no way. May Your power and glory be displayed in our lives, so that others may come to know You as Lord. In Jesus' name, amen.
