Proverbs 17:17-18 - A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

As Christians, we are called to follow Jesus' example of true friendship. This means loving others selflessly, reaching out to those in need, and standing by our friends even in difficult times. True friendship requires vulnerability, sacrifice, and commitment on our part. We see this kind of faithful friendship between David and Jonathan in the Bible. Though Jonathan was next in line for the throne, he loved David and stood by him even when David had to flee from Saul. Jonathan warned and protected David, knowing it could cost him his inheritance. This demonstrates the kind of selfless love Jesus calls us to show. The Bible also reminds us that human friends may wound us or fail us at times. People are imperfect and friendship takes work. But Jesus is the faithful friend who gave His very life for us out of perfect love. He sticks closer than a brother and will never leave us. We can pour out our hearts to Him in prayer, trusting that He understands and cares.

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your perfect friendship and love. Help me to follow Your example by laying down my life for my friends. Make me a faithful friend who loves at all times. When I face adversity, trials, or loneliness, draw near to me as my closest friend. I trust that You will never leave me or forsake me. Amen.
