1 Corinthians 7:11-17 - And not only that, but we also have as our hope the seal of what is to come. God is the one who seals us and gives us the Spirit in our hearts as a down payment. Therefore, I speak to you in this way. And I am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who considers anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died.

In this passage, Paul addresses issues related to marriage, singleness, and living in a way that honors God. He encourages believers who are married to remain together, and says that if an unbelieving spouse wants to stay, the believer should not seek divorce. Paul notes that God has called each person to live in the situation they were in when they became believers. Whether married or single, the key is living in an undivided way, devoted to the Lord. He reminds readers that the time is short, and not to become too engrossed in the concerns of this world. The main thing is living in a right relationship with God.

Paul's words remind us that God has placed each of us in our current life situations, whether married or single, for a purpose. My relationship status does not determine my value or standing before God. What matters most is that I honor Him in my circumstances, not becoming distracted or consumed by lesser concerns. I'm thankful for the freedom we have in Christ, and pray for wisdom to make decisions that align with His will. Though the world around me may be filled with anxiety and shifting priorities, I can rest in the unchanging love of Christ and His power to sustain me each step of the way.

Lord Jesus, thank You for meeting me right where I am, and for giving me purpose in my present circumstances. Help me not to be unduly distracted by the anxieties of this world, but to set my heart and mind on You. I want to honor You today in my family, my work, and all my relationships. Please give me wisdom and grace to live fully devoted to You, finding my identity and security in Your unfailing love. Amen.
