Psalm 5:1-3 - Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my groaning. Give attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you do I pray. O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.

In Psalm 5, David cries out to the Lord in prayer, expressing his trust that God hears his voice in the morning. He prepares his heart like a sacrifice, waiting and watching for the Lord's answer. Though others may seem to prosper in their sin, David knows the Lord hates the wicked. So he prays for guidance, deliverance from enemies, and joy in God's salvation. God's unfailing love surrounds those who trust in Him.

David's example challenges me to start my day in prayer, pouring out my heart to God. Though the world is dark, I can come to the Lord expectantly, seeking His will and wisdom for the day ahead. He promises to hear and answer when I call. What a privilege to commune with the Maker of heaven through Jesus! I too need God's deliverance from spiritual enemies trying to lead me astray. As I meditate on God's trustworthy commands, He directs my paths and guards my way. Even in the midst of turmoil, I can have joy and peace as I keep my eyes fixed on the Lord. He surrounds me with favor and love. I can trust His faithful promises.

Father God, thank You for the gift of prayer and Your promise to hear my voice. Help me to start my days in communion with You, preparing my heart and seeking Your will. Guide my steps and deliver me from the evil one. Surround me with Your unfailing love. Fill my heart with joy in Your salvation, through Christ my Savior. Amen.
