Proverbs 14:23-24 - In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty. The crown of the wise is their wealth, but the folly of fools brings folly.

This passage offers some important wisdom regarding our work and use of time. It encourages diligence, focus, and avoiding distractions that take us away from productive labor. I think there is a warning here against getting caught up in things that may seem fun or entertaining in the moment, but ultimately waste our time and keep us from working diligently. As Christians, we want to make the most of our time and talents for God's glory. We don't want to waste time and opportunities He gives us to bear fruit for His kingdom. This passage also connects the blessing of God to our work and diligence. When we labor faithfully and honor God in our vocations, He often grants success, promotion, and even forms of wealth. However, we must remember that these blessings come from God, not our own wisdom or even just hard work alone. God crowns the efforts of the wise and diligent worker. So we should give Him thanks for all He provides, and remember that every good gift is from above. Our work only has true and lasting value when it is in line with His purposes for our lives. As we think about our daily work, it is so important stay focused on productivity and avoiding distractions. Time wasted cannot be regained. We want to labor diligently as unto the Lord, using our talents wisely and making the most of each day He gives us. May God give us wisdom in how we manage our time and pursue our vocations!

Heavenly Father, help us to pursue our work and daily labors with wisdom, diligence and focus. Keep us from wasting time and talent on fruitless endeavors. Help us make the most of each day You give us. Give us clarity regarding Your purposes for our lives and vocations. May we find great purpose, meaning and even prosperity in our work as we honor You. Guard us against distractions and fruitless talk that wastes precious time. Crown our efforts with Your blessing we pray, that our work may glorify Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
